At the Building Bridges Coalition we are working to foster a culture of international service and a heightened sense of compassion across borders that will build bridges between Americans and volunteers of different countries, cultures, races, ethnicities and religious beliefs. In some ways, our world seems more divided and our nations more inward-looking than ever. We encourage more individuals and organizations to cooperate to lay a foundation on which governments and civil society can build a more prosperous, healthy, and peaceful world.
Based in our belief that volunteering brings people together, we are launching the #VolunteerTogether campaign. We’re asking service organizations to promote a group volunteering activity on December 5th, to participate in the United Nation’s International Volunteer Day. It is important to fill out the subscription list below in order for your organization to join the #VolunteerTogether Campaign. This will allow you to stay updated with useful information, tips, reminders, and updates about the campaign through an occasional email. We would like organizations to ask their volunteers to upload photos of themselves holding our #VolunteerTogether sign (posted below). If you or your volunteers can’t organize a group volunteering activity that day but would like to participate, we would also love to get photos from volunteers holding the sign and describing what they have done in their service!
Please print out the following page. Take a picture with your group holding the sign and post a note to Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram with a description of the volunteer activity your organization is doing (e.g. helping plant a garden with a nursing home) and the hashtag #VolunteerTogether. Please also tag the Building Bridges Coalition on Facebook or Twitter
The most creative #VolunteerTogether post will win and be announced on the Building Bridges Coalition main page, as well as winning a small donation for their organization!
