Building Bridges Coalition Volunteer of the Year 2016: Steven Rosenthal
With the 2016 Volunteer of the Year Award, the Building Bridges Coalition would like to recognize Steven Rosenthal for his years of service to the service community. As founding chairman of the Building Bridges
Coalition in 2006, Steven has been key in engaging NGOs, universities, and private sector companies in developing a national voice for global volunteerism and research. Going beyond the requirements of his role in Cross-Cultural Solutions, Steven has provided leadership in international service for over 21 years for communities across the world.
Steven tirelessly served the cause of our Service World initiative with distinction, helming the BBC in a voluntary capacity, in addition to his role as the cutting-edge sectoral leader of Cross-Cultural Solutions. He supported the crafting of a bold Service World Policy Platform endorsed by hundreds of civic, policy, and academic institutions.
A champion of long-term service, Steven led the development of the Harris Wofford Global Service Fellows, which has given additional recognition to over 400 fellows serving with seven organizations since 2012. He also engaged the BBC sector in dialogue with the Service Year community as Chairman of the Service Year Alliance BBC development committee.
People who believe in volunteering like Steven believe that they can make the world better through their service, and for decades that is what he has been doing.
