22 Jan BBC Tribute to Harris Wofford
The Building Bridges Coalition reflects with profound sadness and gratitude on the passing of our friend and co-founding patron, Senator Harris Wofford. His timely departure on the fitting date of Martin Luther King’s national holiday bore witness to the massive legacy of service, justice and peace he contributed so greatly to – and to all of our personal lives Harris Wofford indelibly touched.
We were greatly impacted by his empathetic and patient times of sharing his life’s leadership in service, whether at volunteering orientations, roundtables or living room chats, listening and guiding us to put forward the next “quantum leap” in global service. In his honor the Building Bridges Coalition launched the Harris Wofford global service fellowship several years ago, and we will continue to press for adoption of a Global Service Fellowship in US policy which Harris inspired.
May his spirit of love, courage and bold, creative service continue to shine brightly in each one of us and in the souls of the millions of people he touched around the globe. Please leave a comment below if you have a memory of Harris you would like to share with us.
